Remember when you were young and life seemed so much simpler? There was no negative self talk in your head questioning if you were doing something well enough, or whether you should do something or not or whether you were tapping into your passion or not … you just got on and did what you loved.
If you really disliked something you didn’t do it. You did not continually ask yourself if you were tapping into your passion or not? You did not question your passion at all. You just did what you loved.
There is so much talk now about tapping into your passion … and yes I have been guilty of this too. I’ve asked my clients to tap into their passion. I’ve received emails and messages about how I can help women to tap into their passion.
Funny thing is, I don’t know what your passion is. I may be able to tell by looking at you and noticing when your eyes light up, because that’s what happens when you are happy and doing something you love.
One thing I do know is that you already know what your passion is. You may just need to take some time to find it. It’s in there. Perhaps you haven’t made time for a very long time to allow yourself the pleasure of doing exactly what you love. Or perhaps you are bogged down with a day to day routine that doesn’t make you happy.
When I first started out in my business I was a coach and I loved what I was doing and the changes I was supporting my clients to make in their lives. In another sense I was confused about what I really wanted to do in my business. I was not sure how to niche narrowly enough because I really wanted to help everyone. I also wasn’t clear enough about where I wanted to take my business in the long-term.
I kept stopping myself every time I was really enjoying myself. That may sound strange, but I didn’t think working for myself could be so much fun. I had it in my mind that it should be more serious, and much more structured.
It wasn’t until I took some time out and really figured out what I loved doing, how to go about having the flexibility I knew I wanted and what made my heart sing, that my business started to take off.
All I had to do was to do more of what I loved. That was what I had done as a child and I was happy.
It was almost as though I wasn’t allowing myself to do more of the things I loved and accept that I could build a business doing that.
Taking time out to think about this was very powerful. I’ve realised that all to often we are so busy that we don’t allow ourselves to do more of what we love.
Now back to you … are you doing what you love?
Have you found your passion and is it working for you and making you happy?
Yes, you have to work at building a business and sometimes it’s hard work, time consuming and parts of it may be boring. The fun part is that you can build a business around the things that make you happy, make you smile, make your heart sing and give you a high because you’re excited to get out of bed everyday and do more of what you love.
Your passion is within you. The only thing you may need to do if you are not sure what your passion is is to allow yourself to take some time out and think about all the things you are good at and the things you really enjoy.
When you were younger, you would have sought out fun. Think back to some of those times.
You already know what you love in life and what makes you happy.
Instead of holding yourself back, do more of what makes you feel loved, happy, fulfilled and satisfied.
Give yourself permission to do more of the things you enjoy.
