I was reading a magazine today and came across an article about success and realised that many of the points could easily be used in a way that will support you in lifting your confidence and certainly for public speaking. This point alone is something to think about. Have an open mind when reading, as often you can insert a different subject to support you in what ever it is you are wanting to achieve. Is is success is your business, your personal life, public speaking, a hobby or your study.
Be Organised: Plan your presentation or speech. Write if down. Check it and have someone else check it for content and structure. It is exactly the message you want to present? Practice it out load. Time yourself so that you are sure of the timeframe. If you have access to the venue, take time to check it and set it up as you want it. Know how much time it takes to travel to the venue. The last thing you need on the day is stress about timeframes. Check any equipment or technology to ensure is is working and also have a back up. Just in case!
Believe in yourself: Choose a positive mindset. You can be a great speaker, just as you can great at anything else you choose. Choose this mindset and believe with passion.
Never give up: Keep going, as a child who gets knocked down, get back up and keep going. Step up and take any chance you can to speak in any situation. Build your experience and your style by continually presenting and speaking. Surround your with people who will support you, encourage you and believe in you. Stay away from people who drain your energy or do not believe in you.
Think BIG: Observe others. Immerse yourself in information by reading and watching videos that will help you grow and develop your style. Find a mentor and work with your mentor to achieve your dreams and goals.
Seek Feedback: Give yourself feedback and seek feedback from a mentor or someone you can trust to give you constructive feedback. Film yourself. . . . . even is this sounds daunting. . . . invest in a good video camera and remember you are in charge of the camera. You can delete the whole video once you have watched yourself! Learn from your mistakes.
Have Fun! Yes, public Speaking can be fun!
