I was chatting with a friend yesterday who mentioned she was frustrated about something new she was learning in her business. She felt as though she was going forward and slipping back, going forward 1 step and slipping back 1 step.
I often work with my clients around getting out of their comfort zone. It is not uncommon to move forward and have a little stumble and step back again before going forward toward your goal. Take one step outside your comfort zone, and it is all too easy to take one step back again, right back where you began. Easy!
If you are to continue to improve and master anything, you will be spending even more time out of your comfort zone. This is exactly where you need to be to master anything new. Take 2 or 3 steps out, and 1 step back, and you are still outside of your comfort
Remember when you drove a car for the first time? Remember learning to swim? What ever it is you are learning for the first time, takes practice and yes you will slip back from time to time and then go forward again, all the time being out of your comfort zone.
Go back to the basics you know, give it a go, practice, and practice again. Get some feedback, and give it another go. Once you learn something, you cannot “unlearn” it. It is there, all you need is practice. Hold your head high, take a deep breath, shoulders back, take your time and give it a go.
Take a few BIG steps out of your comfort zone. Yes it can be scary out there, but this is exactly where you must be to move forward.
Let me know-
I look forward to hearing more about how you are stepping up with your public speaking. Let me know what changes you have made and how you are feeling. Let me know about the challenges you have had. If you are challenged I suggest you are moving in the right direction.
